JURONG PORT DEVELOPMENT

Country: Singapore
Category: Marine/Port Infrastructure and Engineering

JURONG International was the master planner, engineering consultant and project manager for the port’s development.  Our diverse expertise and extensive experience have enabled us to undertake the design of the port over the past 40 years, transforming it into a key gateway for bulk and conventional cargo in Singapore. Today, Jurong Port serves over 7,000 vessels of up to 150,000 deadweight tones every year, with 23 berths that can accommodate vessels with drafts of up to 16 metres and is equipped with super post-panamax quay cranes and gantry cranes to handle containerized cargo.

Jurong Port is also Singapore’s only dry bulk cargo-handling port, with its Container Terminal serving main and feeder line customers.  It boasts 13 sophisticated quay cranes and 2 mobile harbour cranes, which can handle up to 18 rows of containers. The container yard facilities are able to stack up to 35,000 twenty-foot units high with the 34 rubber-tyred gantry cranes available.

Housing the world’s largest common-user Cement Terminal commissioned in 1997, Jurong Port is equipped with the latest specialized cement handling system.  The system comprises 3 sophisticated screw-type unloaders to handle an annual capacity of over 4 million tones.

Jurong Logistics Hub, Singapore’s largest multi-storey drive-up warehouse, is also strategically located at Jurong Port.  This innovatively designed logistics facility allows 45-foot containers to be trucked to every level, right to the doorsteps of the customers and under all weather conditions.  The ultra-modern warehouse comprises 118,000 m2 of warehouse space and 6,200m2 of office space.
