JTC has dormitories in various parts of Singapore. They were leased to manufacturing sector companies to house their foreign workers. Kian Teck Dormitory was one of them 411 units for about 4,000 residents. Each development is equipped with recreational facilities like gymnasium, basketball courts and amenities such as mini-market, barber, food court and clinic. SMM is the Main Contractor which provides management and maintenance of the facilities, its cleanliness and security. The security system includes surveillance system, card access and turnstiles to keep out non-residents and to check on the compliance of house rules such as no alcohol to be brought into the dormitory. The contract scope also includes lease management as well as marketing of the vacant units.
