JURONG Primewide Secures First LTA Project!

JURONG Primewide was awarded the first civil contract for the Tuas West Extension (TWE) by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for $237mil. This is an extension of the East-West Line from Joo Koon station, consisting of a 7.5km long twin tracked MRT viaduct and four above-ground stations.

LTA awarded this contract to us based on our alternative design option, coupled with a competitive pricing package. We bidded against several local and international firms like GS Engrg, Hock Lian Seng Infra, KOH Bros, KTL Civil Engrg and Samsung/ Tiong Seng Joint Venture.

The construction is for a 26-hectare MRT depot at Tuas, which will provide stabling and maintenance facilities for the additional 13 North-South-East-West Line trains that will be purchased for the 7.5km Tuas-West Extension.
Construction of the depot will start at end of the year and is expected to complete in 2016.

SMM Lights Up F1 Singapore!

SMM was commissioned by the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to design and construct a lighting system which primarily enhances Singapore’s nightscape and the appearance of its iconic buildings around the Marina Bay Street Circuit on broadcast, at the 2011 FORMULA 1 Singapore Grand Prix held at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

These buildings included the City Hall and the former Supreme Court, the Benjamin Sheares Bridge, the Merlion, The Esplanade, Victoria Concert Hall, the Civilian War Memorial and the Pit Building rooftop. SMM partnered with lighting design consultant, Light Cibles, for this project.

The installation process revealed that many special arrangements had to be made in order to cast lights onto the various structures for optimal effect. For instance, to overcome the ongoing refurbishment works at the City Hall and the former Supreme Court, two towers of 15-metre each were erected at the Padang to project lights across the race track onto the two buildings to achieve the desired lighting effect. Four 10-metre towers were built from a distance of 40-metres from the Esplanade to create an impressive lighting effect which enhances the building’s façade made up of ‘fins’ tilted at different angles.

With that, the Group is now staffed by professionals with all three of BCA’s certifications, the others being, Certified Green Mark Manager (GMM) and Green Mark Professional (GMP).

We have now joined a group of people who are certified by BCA for their good foundation and knowledge in environmentally sustainable building methods. These individuals also have the professional capacity to give advice in the designing of such green buildings.

JURONG Consultants Collaborates With IES

JURONG Consultants partnered with a Scotland-based company, Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) to develop an assessment tool for BCA’s Green Mark Scheme – the national green certification for buildings. With the support of BCA, both companies worked together to develop a tool which utilizes IES’s unique VE-Navigator technology. It is set to simplify the Green Mark assessment process for architects, engineers and building designers.

The tool concept made its debut at BEX Asia, held in Singapore in September and will be open for testing in November. This user-friendly tool aims to target both experienced and novice users to perform quality controlled assessments. The new tool will be available for purchase through JURONG Consultants which will also provide direct local support to its customers.
